We are offering a FREE half-day school on how to design a rallycross course and an intro on how to become a safety steward. Please join us Saturday, April 25th at 10:00am at the Ramona Fairgrounds to get hands-on training on course design and safety steward information. You will help setup the actual course for Sunday while getting instruction on the best practices of course design and safety guidelines.
Course Design -
This is interactive training on how to design your own rallycross course! This will cover the basics including:
- Using a scaled map to layout grid, trailer placement, and the course
- Considering placement of worker stations for course workers
- Considering conditions of the dirt/site
- Cone placement
- Safety considerations
This is a unique opportunity to learn from our seasoned rallycross course designers and even have the opportunity to develop a course design we can use later this year!
Safety Steward -
Alongside learning on how to make an exciting and safe course, you will learn how to keep the event safe once it is running. Why become a safety steward? The event cannot run without one! This would count as your work assignment for the day if you volunteer to be a safety steward at an event and you get to help move/fix the track as needed to make a safe course.
As part of your course designing training, you will get a preview on how to successfully become a rallycross safety steward. Then becoming a safety steward in a couple easy steps:
- Complete the online course (one evening)
- Shadow a safety steward for two rallycross days (ie if there is a rallycross weekend event, each day of the event counts as a separate day). You will still get to compete as usual, with no other work assignment for the day!
